Trip to the pumpkin patch

I love the pumpkin patch. There is something about the smell in the air, the crisp wind blowing through my hair and the miles of corn mazes and rows of orange pumpkins that just brings a smile to my face. As with many things in life, activities like the pumpkin patch become so much better when you get to experience the joy and excitement through the eyes of your children. I was not able to go to the pumpkin patch field trip with Addison's class this year but it sounds like they had a wonderful time. However, I did find a wonderful Friday morning a week before Halloween when the sun was out and Macy and I had some free time. So we meet Kristi, Jaren and Jocelyn at E.Z. Orchards and enjoyed a fun morning of running, running and more running. What else could one expect when you let two very excited 3 year old loose at a very fun pumpkin patch.

After a few hours of running, and sliding and climbing and peddling the trackers we did manage to find the PERFECT pumpkins. For some silly reason Macy was very attracted to all of the pumpkins that were covered in "warts" and Jaren really enjoyed the "wart" pumpkins that were green or "off" colored. I am all about embracing their free and untainted point of view as I know all to soon they will be among their peers and will quickly learn that these "special" pumpkins are not perfect in the eyes of the general population. Of course this mommy will take that opportunity to teach my child about beauty and the true source as well as the right and enjoyment of personal preference.....but that lessing is for another day. On this sunny day, Macy picked the pumpkin covered in warts and was very proud of her choice. Here are some fun pictures from that day. Enjoy!
