She likes it!!! She really, really likes it!!!
After a rough start to the basketball season it appears that we have turned a corner and are entering a very exciting and enjoyable stage in our 2010 Upward basketball experience. Addison actually asked all week when her next basketball game was and she arrived on Saturday morning excited, energized and ready to learn and play!!!! She quickly joined her teammates for a little chase each other around the gym before the game started. (this is not an official Upward activity but if you had a Kindergarten girl, you know what I am talking about) She actually got to be on the first group of kids out on the court and took to it like a fish in water! She was eager to listen and follow the coaches instructions and even started connecting the concepts of the game. She put her hands up to guard her "color" (they use Velcro colored strips to help them remember who they are matched up with on the opposing team) she went for the ball and attempted to steal it several times and she played offense like nobodies business. She attempted 3 or 4 shots and was so proud of herself for actually dribbling and shooting the basket that it did not matter AT ALL if they went in or not. She has come alive and is really enjoying her time at Upward and I am so happy! It did not really matter if she ended up liking basketball or not but to me I feel like she has just experienced a HUGE accomplishment in learning to deal with and overcome some of her major fears and anxieties in regards to new situations and new activities. I am so proud of her and know that this will be a life lesson that she will take with her for years to come....and she did it herself!!!!!
We are currently a family of 4 and loving every minute of it. Kenny and I have two wonderful little girls, 6 years old and 3 years old. My days are filled with Dora, Curious George and Strawberry Shortcake movies, many hours of dress up and dancing and a few moments each day are used to do laundry, clean the house and make a few meals. Life is busy but tons of fun!!!
